Zinaida Serebriakova

A more than full size nude, directly inspired by the self-portrait of the Russian (Ukrainian ) - French painter. All the theme is on the variations on blue hues, from near-black to almost purplish. This gives a statuary appearance to this figure. As from her biography, mrs Serebriakova had an enchanting youth, born in a family of artists of French origin, educated and professionally trained as an artist. After the revolution, she lost her husband in a Bolshevik’s jail and succeeded in fleeing from her country into France, but she was forced to leave two sons in the Soviet Union. Her skills and sensibilities were outstanding. A contradictory bright, almost acid yellow , flashes unnaturally in the lower left corner, by contradiction giving an outstanding appearance to the nude woman’s meditation.
