Gen. Baron P. N. ‘Vrangel
Medium
He had that peculiar look. Amazingly tall for his times, he always towered above his fellow officers. Charismatic, faithful to his ideals, the Bolshevik winners of the Great Civil War still feared him even after he had admitted his defeat and escaped with his soldiers and civilians on a fleet from Odessa. He lived in Istanbul, Belgrade, then with his fellow officers beginning to starve. Then in Brussels. His own butler’s brother, a spy of the reds, poisoned him to death. His tomb, in Belgrade, was then restored by Russian Federation. He was a hero for many compatriots. Many people still mourn his ill fate.Artist
