Mary Queen of Stars

This painting was conceived as a Madonna sent back to her own times. A veil as an anticipated Hijab. A meditation about the crown of stars which surrounds the head. But the first glimpse is caught by the strongly brushed outlines of the face, a really earthen face. Not exactly a beauty, one could guess. But, actually, a real creature of flesh and meat. And this further invites to a meditation.
